BE SINCERE

READING: 1John1:1-9

Our text today calls for absolute sincerity and openness in our relationship with God and humanity. As an eye witness of Jesus earthly ministry, John wrote to give us hope and
confidence in God. He presented God as light and explains how Christians can walk in God’s light (vv8-10).  A sincere Christian has nothing to hide; we lie when we claim to fellowship with God and still walk in darkness (v6).

Regrettably, so many people today, who claim to be Christians, have serious evil engagements in their secret lives.

The eye of the Lord is so pure that He cannot behold iniquity (Habakkuk 1:13). It is dangerous for one’s secret commitment to betray the trust God has in one. We are in great a point of danger when we cover our sins.  But we are in the pathway of re-union with God, when we confess and forsake our sins.

St John could be seen today as a great asset to our generation.  What specifically are you known for? Christianity needs absolute sincerity, openness and honesty. Allow the light of
God to shine in any area of your life that is filled with darkness. Learn from St. John and live your life in a manner that your encounter with Jesus will affect your life and the lives of others. Remember, your daily life is writing your life history. You shall be remembered by your works.

PRAYER: Let the beauty of Jesus be seen in me.
