SUBTOPIC: GLORY KILLER – EVIL COMMUNICATION
TEXTS: 2 Corinthians 6:14-18, 1 Corinthians 15:33-34, Deuteronomy 7:3-4.
INTRODUCTION
Solomon defied the instruction of God to Israelites never to intermarry with pagans. His heart remained pure until his wives turned his heart away from the Lord to idols and he lost everything (1 Kings 11:1-9). Friends and close associates maintained by believers will either help to manifest God’s Glory or otherwise. While God has set us aside as people in whom He desires to reveal His Glory (Isaiah 43:10), relationships are very critical in realising this divine plan. The world knows this concludes that “a man’s friends are the best microscope to detect his character and person;” probably what his future holds.
DISCUSSION
1. How will you explain evil communication?
2. What are the dangers of keeping intimate relationship with non-Christians and
nominal Christians? Gen. 34:3,1 Kings 11:1-9,
3. Critically examine 1Cor. 15:33-34 and 2 Cor. 6:14-18 using different versions of
the Bible.
4. What is the implication of 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 on believers belonging to social
clubs, ungodly associations etc.
CONCLUSION
We are strangers and pilgrims on this earth and we must live as such (Heb. 11:13-15). It
is the desire of our father to show the world the glory of His kingdom and power through
us. We must detach ourselves from all unholy alliances and appearances that have
potential to turn our hearts away from the Lord. Saints are supposed to show the world
how to live not the other way round.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
As saints, we are pilgrims and strangers here; we must not forget to exhibit the customs
of our homeland (Heaven).
MEMORY VERSE
Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. 1Cor. 15:33
