PATH TO GLORY

SUB TOPIC: GLORY KILLER – PRIDE
TEXTS: Isa. 14:8-15, James. 4:6, Prov. 8:13, 11:2, 14:3, 16:18, 29:23.

INTRODUCTION
God desires to take glory in all things; we are created for His Glory (Isaiah 43:7, Revelation 4: 11). Pride is a state of the mind that is capable of robbing Christians of God’s glory. Satan, who was beautifully made, fell due to this ‘killer’ called pride (Ez. 38:13-17). It is a state of heart that God hates. We should guard our heart against this “venom” that has brought down giants and destroyed Glory.

DISCUSSION
1. What do you understand by Pride and what are the marks?
2. What are the means by which pride could enter a man’s heart? 1 Timothy 6:17 j
3. What are the antidotes for pride? Romans 8:13, Galatians 5:25.
4. Give Biblical examples of those who lost glory because of pride.

CONCLUSION
Pride is a deadly thing which from ages past has robed great people of their glory. It is something we must watch out for as we rise in glory. Let us humble ourselves otherwise; we may fall short of the Glory of God. God always releases more grace to a humble soul. The humbler we become, the more the glory of God radiates in us.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
It is better that a person humbles himself than for God to humble him.

MEMORY VERSE
Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Prov. 16:18
